PDO Threads is a facial rejuvenation procedure using FDA-approved polydioxanone (PDO) sutures to lift, tighten, firm, and smooth your skin. PDO Threads stimulate collagen, reduce fine lines and superficial wrinkles, provide instant volume, and lift the skin up to a firmer, more youthful position. If you're concerned about mildly sagging skin, you're not interested or a good candidate for more invasive procedures, or you're looking for a way to "try out" a surgical facelift, PDO threads might be right for you. A PDO thread lift procedure is designed to physically lift loose skin, but at a certain point in the aging process, excess skin needs to be removed to see natural-looking, long-term results.

How We Do It

One of our specially trained nurse injectors will consult with you about your desired results and perform a thorough facial assessment. Your provider will determine which type of threads, how many you will need, and how they should be placed to give you the best result. You will be numbed with an injectable lidocaine solution to minimize any discomfort prior to the treatment. Your provider will then skillfully place the threads to lift sagging skin and begin the process to stimulate collagen production over the next several weeks.

Side Effects

After thread lift procedures, you don't need to take any downtime, but you might experience minor swelling, bruising, pain, or discomfort at the thread insertion point or throughout the area being treated.

Time to Full Effect

You will notice an immediate result after we tighten sagging skin with PDO threads. Over the next 3-6 months, the skin's healing response produces younger, fresher collagen around the sutures for stronger, firmer, more flexible skin that appears smoother and rejuvenated even after the threads are fully absorbed. After 6 months, you may come back for another rejuvenating procedure if desired.

How do PDO threads work?

We offer a variety of PDO threads that can be used alone or together to help you achieve your desired results. Smooth threads are used for collagen stimulation to reduce fine lines and superficial wrinkles. Barbed threads can be used to grasp and hold skin and lift it into a more youthful, firm position. These can be used to correct assymentry and lift various areas of the face as well. As all PDO threads are absorbed by the body, your body produces more collagen providing volume and lift that lasts long after the threads are fully absorbed.

Are PDO threads safe?

Polydiaxonone (PDO) sutures are FDA approved and have been used safely in surgical procedures for decades. The nurse injectors performing PDO Thread lifts have gone through rigorous specialized training, have ample experience in the field, and continue to train on the latest techniques.

Symptom Relief

You may have some bruising or swelling after this procedure. Over the counter Arnica supplements have been shown to decrease swelling. You may begin taking them 3 days prior treatment.

Medications

Do not use aspirin, motrin, advil, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, gingko biloba, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, garlic pills, or other anti-inflammatory medications for 1-2 weeks prior.

Avoid Massage

Do not get a facial or a massage in treated areas for 2 weeks after your procedure.

Physical Activity

Avoid strenuous workouts and alcohol for 72 hours if possible.

Dental Appointment

Do not undergo dental procedures for 3 to 4 weeks if areas treated were around the mouth.
